Actually, I wanted to give my Norwegian Instagram friend the gift, the chocolate, in person today. But unfortunately he would not be on board. But we agreed that I would leave the gift at the reception desk on the ship. They would then hold it until he was back on board. It’s a pity that it didn’t work out with a meeting, but we’ll make it sometime 😊.
The Kong Harald was due to dock in Ørnes at 06.10 for 10 minutes. So I had to be on time and better too early than too late. Glomfjord is about 20 km from Ørnes. I left so that I was at the quay at 5:50. That way I would be able to photograph the Kong Harald coming in.

The slant is not a photo composition, no, it’s real. I later had it explained to me that the slanting position came about because the Kong Harald still had too much speed for this curve. But despite the initially still too high speed, she docked without any problems.
First I went to the gangway before I took some photos. While I was doing that, I helped an elderly man with his suitcase, because the suitcase didn’t want to go the way the elderly man wanted it to. He thanked me and checked in. Afterwards, I explained to the nice woman in English that I had a gift for my nice Instragram friend and asked if she could give it to him. Of course, the gift had the name on it. She smiled and assured me that she would give it to him. For good measure, I sent my Instagram friend a message.
“I just dropped off your gift. Can you please send me a picture when you get it?”
“Thanks. Yeah, sure I will.”, came back quite quickly.
After he got back to work a photo and a thank you came back. One of these days we’ll manage to swap Fiskeboller with bacon for Swiss chocolate. 😂
Before the Kong Harald set sail again, I took a few detailed photos of the ship and of course of the departure. Then it was back to Glomfjord.
