Today I slept in before I took the bus to the city at 12:10 pm. The bus stop was nearby.

Trollkiosk – this was a tip from several Norwegian friends and I had to try it. Since I can rely on my Norwegian friends, I ate the number 1 “Reinere & beef”. It was really delicious. So I can also recommend the number 1.

Until the Hurtigruten ship docked at 14:15, I still had some time for a stroll through Tromsø.

First, as always, there were the obligatory waffles, including the Nordnorge. After that, the ship was inspected.

This time the view of Tromsø from the ship was very nice. So this time I took photos not only of the ship, but also of Tromsø.

Since the northern lights can take a long time to appear, it was advisable to eat something beforehand. So I went back to Egons for a meal at 5 pm. The restaurant was close to the meeting point for the Northern Lights tour and the food was also good.
On the way to the meeting point, I observed the Norwegian winter service.
There were a lot of buses at the meeting point, so I had to ask my way. The driver found me first and then we went on a Northern Lights tour. Our observation spot was about 30min outside Tromsø. In my group were a German with his Asian girlfriend and another Asian couple and me. All of us were given a warm overall and shoes by the guide. I didn’t want any because I had enough warm clothes.
I had borrowed a tripod from the guide and we both placed our two Kammeras in case we saw the northern lights.

While we were all waiting for the Northern Lights, I chatted with Virgil and took the opportunity to talk to the guide in Norwegian. He improved my pronunciation and when we didn’t understand each other in Norwegian we switched to English. The others were too cold, so most of them stayed in the bus and slept. In between, everyone had either a warm coffee or cocoa and a muffin.

And then we had to wait again. The guide and the others had an app for northern lights, but the app showed nothing and then the others preferred to wait in the bus.
They didn’t miss anything. I took at least one night shot. So I experimented a bit with the settings so that I was ready to go in case the northern lights came.

At some point, even the guide gave up. The northern lights just didn’t want to come. The other northern lights tours in our vicinity were also unsuccessful. At one point he wanted to try again and lo and behold there were some, but you could only see them with a camera. They were not visible to the naked eye.
Northern Lights on the way back

Now everyone was happy after all. The guide shared all the photos with us later. The guide dropped me off at my place on the way back and at some point around 2am I fell into bed a bit frozen.
