When I went to pick up my car, I met my hostess. She told me where I could park the car later and that I should drive up with a bit more momentum, otherwise I wouldn’t get up because the road was very slippery. Oh 😳, if that works out. Going up is one thing, but where you go up you have to come back down. Yes, the road really was very slippery. Anyway, it would work out somehow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I picked up my car at AVIS at 10am. The handover went smoothly. I checked everything and took a closer look at the tyres. No studs, but new. I asked why there were no studs. They don’t have a permit for that and the tyres were new and would be fine. I wasn’t quite convinced, but what the hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First I went to buy some food opposite the rental station and then drove the food home. The first time I tried to go up to my parking space, I had to go back down again because I didn’t have enough momentum, but the second attempt worked. 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My hostess had told me about the island of Giske and on TV I had heard something about the lighthouse in Alnes. The weather was good, so I decided to go there first. The sat nav was programmed and off we went.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I admit, I was a bit scared to drive down the slippery road. I would have been more comfortable with spikes. I drove slowly backwards and without sliding down the slippery road and was really happy to have reached the bottom in one piece. Not for nothing do many cars in Norway drive with spikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, I stopped when I liked something and took a few photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a funny thing. First a snow-covered road, then an icy-road and then none of the above. And all this always only a few kilometres or sometimes only a few hundred metres apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the church, the road was slippery with ice. The other roads in Giske and the car park at the church were also icy. Unfortunately, the church was closed and so I could only see it from the outside. At the church there was also a small harbour and further back I could already see the lighthouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we went on to Alnes to the lighthouse. Alnes is about 10km from Giske. About halfway, it was back to normal road conditions (no snow and no ice).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the lighthouse was a restaurant. I took a break there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After refreshments, I walked around the lighthouse and a bit along the sea. It was very beautiful. There were also some other people there. They must have had the same idea. They were not all Norwegians, because I heard different languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back home, Virgil (my good friend) contacted me and wanted to know what I had done and if I was going out for dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wrote him that I had bought my favourite ready-made dish „Fiskeboller (fish dumplings)“ and was going to have it for dinner. Now the same discussion started as on the July trip, only this time not with my Instagram friend from the Kong Harald, but with Virgil. Fiskeboller are only good with fried bacon. Virgil sent me a photo of which bacon I absolutely had to buy. Since he didn’t give up, I went out again and actually found the bacon I wanted in a small grocery shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s how I ended up eating Fiskeboller with bacon for the first time, and it wasn’t bad at all. 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From my bed, I could look out the window and had a beautiful view over \u00c5lesund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I was doing my WhatsApp status and Instagram Story as usual, I kept enjoying the beautiful view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
