Day 8 – 03.01.2023 last Day on Bord

Unfortunately, the time passed far too quickly. For all the fellow travellers from my table, the voyage with the Richard With came to an end in Tromsø. We had to vacate the cabins by 12 noon.

Before that, we docked in Finnes. As always, I watched the docking process. You can find a video on my Instagram account. Link at the end of the post.

It was very cold outside and a cold wind was blowing. But I still took some nice pictures before it got dark and we arrived in Tromsø. In between we had a cup of warm coffee.

last day on Bord

In Tromsø I had booked another snowshoe tour. I had to take my luggage with me, as I would not be going back on board. Our tour guide was a young Bavarian who is studying in Norway. We took two taxis to Charlottenlund. This is a popular skiing, skating and tobogganing area around Tromsø in winter. There we went to a container where everyone was given snowshoes and a headlamp. During the tour, my luggage was deposited in the container.

The tour was very beautiful. The weather was perfect and the fresh snow very good for snowshoeing. We also had a very nice view of Tromsø.

After the snowshoe tour, those who wanted to could go sledding. No, not the usual toboggan but a mat and with this we went down the mountain. The mountain wasn’t high, but amazingly, we were still able to go down quickly with the mat. Afterwards, a fire was built in a fire bowl and there was hot tea to warm up.

After we had put everything back in the container, the others went back to the ship and I took a taxi to my accommodation.

The accommodation was a little outside the city centre on the island of Kvaløya, a quiet area of detached houses. The bus stop was nearby and the connections were good.

On the advice of a friend, I had bought a 7-day ticket via app. This allowed me to use all public transport in Tromsø. When I left the house, I even saw reindeer right outside the door.

I combined the search for a restaurant with a tour of the city.

At Egons (a restaurant chain in Norway) I ate something before taking the bus back home. Around midnight I fell into bed, dead tired, and had a good night’s sleep.
